Frequently Asked Questions:
Kid's Kenpo
Are classes at the Kenpo Karate & Kickboxing
Center safe for my child?
Absolutely! Martial arts classes are just as safe
as a number of children's sports, such as football or baseball,
because
of the close supervision and hands-on instruction. All of
our students are taught techniques that correspond with their
level of training and ability.
Will my child be in a class with adults or kids who
are much older/younger?
No. We separate our classes by age. There is a class for 4-6 year
olds, children over 7, and an advanced kids class. To see the schedule,
How do I know if my child is too young to start martial
arts training?
No two children develop physically and mentally
at the same rate; some 4 year olds mature faster than others. We
highly reccommend that you bring your child in for a free trial class
regardless
of
the
age.
That will allow you time to evaluate our instructors
and teaching methods, so you can be sure that they are compatible
with what you want for your son or daughter.
Do you teach children the same techniques you teach
adults?
Yes. We teach our youngest students the same effective
self defense that is taught to adults without "watering
down" the techniques. The requirements for rank advancement do
not change based on the
age of the student. For rank requirements, click
here.
Does your school compete in tournaments?
No. Students may certainly choose to attend competitions,
but the Kenpo Karate & Kickboxing Center does not officially
attend or sponsor tournaments.
