Does your style teach kata?
What about using weapons?
Katas or forms are a series of prearranged movements
taught to increase fitness and to acclimate the student with moving
their body in different ways. Forms using weapon are taught at the
upper ranks.
Because the 'traditional' weapons (such as the bo staff or katana)
are impractical and, in many areas, illegal to carry, we teach the use
of common self defense weapons such as the kubaton, pocket knife, short
stick, pepper sprays, stun guns and firearms.
Does your school compete in tournaments?
No. Students may certainly choose to attend competitions,
but the Kenpo Karate & Kickboxing Center does not officially
attend or sponsor tournaments.
